Klaus Enders große Leidenschaft galt zeitlebens der Fotografie. 1939 geboren, kaufte er sich vom ersten Gesellenlohn einen Fotoapparat. Viele weitere Kameras folgten, bis ihn eine Erblindung im Jahr 2020 zum Aufhören zwang.

Anfangs widmete er sich der Natur- und Landschaftsfotografie. Mit 24 machte er erste Aktaufnahmen, wenig später folgten erste Veröffentlichungen.

Ästhetik und Natürlichkeit waren Enders Maxime, seine Bilder fernab jedes Voyeurismus. 1966 begann er seine Selbständigkeit als freischaffender Fotograf auf der Insel Rügen. Doch erst zehn Jahre später konnte er in Potsdam seinen Traum von einer ersten Aktausstellung in der DDR verwirklichen – er gewann den Fotografiker Gerd Rattei als Partner. „Akt & Landschaft“ sollte Geschichte schreiben. Diese Ausstellung führte zur Anerkennung des Genres in der DDR. Der Weltverband der Kunst­fotografie FIAP verlieh ihm den internationalen  Ehren­titel „Artiste Fiap“ (AFIAP).

Im Jahr 1981 übersiedelte Klaus Ender nach Österreich, ein Jahr später wurde ihm vom Ministerium für Unterricht und Kunst in Wien die Anerkennung als „Bildender Künstler der Fotografie“ zuteil. Ender machte sich einen Namen als Autor von mehr als 150 von ihm illustrierten und vielen geschriebenen Büchern sowie von zahllosen Artikeln in Fachzeitschriften. Sein Buch „Filtertechnik – Filterkunst“ gilt als Standardwerk der Filterfotografie. Er arbeitete für bekannte Firmen wie Cokin Paris, B+W und Verlage wie Herder oder Bertelsmann. Zu seiner geliebten Insel Rügen kehrte er 1996 zurück. Der Poet entdeckte sein zweites Talent (wieder) und schrieb Gedichte und Aphorismen. Im Jahr 2002 gründete er seinen eigenen Art Photo Verlag, in dem Gedicht- und Aphorismus-Bildbände, Aktbücher, Kunstkalender erscheinen.

Mehrere Ausstellungen präsentieren 2025 seine Werke, so die Schau  „Akt & Landschaft“ bis 27. September in der Societät Rostock und vom 24. August 2025 bis 2. Mai 2026 im Natur-Museum Goldberg sowie die Ausstellung  „Natur ART“. Natur – Akt-Abstraktes vom 11. September bis 9. November 2025 im Kunstmuseum Kloster Malchow.

Klaus Ender's great passion throughout his life was photography. Born in 1939, he bought his first camera with his first wage as a journeyman. Many more cameras followed until he was forced to stop in 2020 due to blindness.

In the beginning, he devoted himself to nature and landscape photography. At 24, he took his first nude photographs, followed shortly afterwards by his first publications.

Aesthetics and naturalness were Ender's maxims, his pictures were far from any voyeurism. In 1966 he started his own business as a freelance photographer on the island of Rügen. But it was only ten years later that he was able to realize his dream of his first nude exhibition in the GDR in Potsdam – he won the photographer Gerd Rattei as a partner. “Nude & Landscape” was to make history. This exhibition led to the recognition of the genre in the GDR. The International Federation of Art Photography (FIAP) awarded him the international honorary title “Artiste Fiap” (AFIAP).

In 1981, Klaus Ender moved to Austria, and a year later he was recognized as a “Fine Art Photographer” by the Ministry of Education and Art in Vienna. Ender made a name for himself as the author of more than 150 books, which he illustrated and wrote, as well as countless articles in trade journals. His book “Filtertechnik – Filterkunst” is considered a standard work on filter photography. He worked for well-known companies such as Cokin Paris, B+W and publishers such as Herder or Bertelsmann. He returned to his beloved island of Rügen in 1996. The poet (re)discovered his second talent and wrote poems and aphorisms. In 2002, he founded his own publishing house, Art Photo Verlag, which publishes illustrated books of poems and aphorisms, books of nudes, and art calendars.

Several exhibitions will present his works in 2025, including the show “Nude & Landscape” until September 27 at the Societät Rostock and from August 24, 2025 to May 2, 2026 at the Natur-Museum Goldberg, as well as the exhibition “Natur ART”. Nature - Nude-Abstract from September 11 to November 9, 2025 at the Malchow Monastery Art Museum.
