Liebe Leser, liebe Leserinnen,
Nummer 40 ist ein Jubiläumsheft: 20 Jahre Fine Art Photo. Zwei Jahrzehnte, das bedeutet über 400 veröffentlichte Fotografen und mehr als 8000 veröffentlichte Bilder, konservativ gerechnet. Ich bin wirklich stolz und natürlich gilt mein Dank an dieser Stelle meiner Top-Designerin Susanne Jordan, meiner Lektorin Birgit Kummer , der guten Seele Elke Sailer und dem früheren Herausgeber, Rudolf Hillebrand. Danke Ihnen allen, die uns treu bleiben. Das berührt uns, insbesondere wenn man auf das Magazin-Sterben großer etablierter Magazine schaut.
Das Ganze funktioniert nur, weil wir auf Sie als Abonnenten zählen können. Die Zahlen sind konstant und es sind beständige Einnahmen, mit denen wir kalkulieren können. Ohne Sie hätten wir keine Chance. Vielen Dank an alle, die Fine Art Photo abonniert haben, aber auch an alle anderen interessierten Leser, denn ohne sie gäbe es uns nicht.
Genießen Sie nun das neue Heft. Ich verzichte auf die sonst hier üblichen Einzelvorstellungen der Künstler. Sie sprechen für sich. Die Zustimmung auch aus ihrem Kreis ist enorm. Ohne die Hilfe der Fotografen, die wir hier veröffentlichen, wäre Fine Art Photo in schwerem Wasser.
Ich glaube, auch FAP 40 erfüllt Ihre Wünsche als Leser. Internationaler geht es nicht. Keiner der Künstler unterstützt die aktuellen Konflikte - es wäre wunderbar, wenn die weltweiten Konflikte so einfach zu beenden wären, wie es in einem Kunstmagazin möglich ist.
Wenn Sie andere Vorstellungen haben, melden Sie sich bei uns und sagen Sie, was wir besser machen können. Konstruktive Kritik ist immer willkommen. Genießen Sie nun eine Reise im wortwörtlichen Sinne einmal um die Welt. Wir reisen mit Ihnen von Japan , China über die Ukraine und Russland nach Afghanistan und in die USA. Und wenn Sie genau hinschauen, finden sich noch viele weitere Plätze – einer schöner und interessanter als der andere. So unterschiedlich Menschen und Gesichter, die Gefühle und Emotionen sind immer wieder ähnlich. Fotografien bewegen und berühren etwas in uns. Sie spiegeln die Suche nach Ruhe und Nähe, nach dem Menschsein ohne Streit und Krieg. Die Fotografie, die Begeisterung für dieses Medium, kennt keine Grenzen und keine politischen Systeme. Es geht um das Bild und das, was es uns erzählt.
Genießen Sie diese Reise, suchen Sie die Aussage jedes Bildes oder genießen Sie einfach die Stimmung, den Ausdruck und die Schönheit. Und bleiben Sie uns treu.

Issue 40 is an anniversary issue: 20 years of Fine Art Photo. Two decades—that means over 400 published photographers and more than 8.000 published images, by a conservative estimate. I am truly proud, and of course I would like to take this opportunity to thank my top designer Susanne Jordan, my editor Birgit Kummer, to Elke Sailer, who is were we need her and the former publisher, Rudolf Hillebrand. Thank you to all of you who keep us in business. This means a lot to us, especially when we see the demise of major established magazines.
The whole thing only works because we can count on you as subscribers. The numbers are steady, and we can rely on consistent revenue. Without you, we wouldn’t stand a chance. Many thanks to everyone who has subscribed to Fine Art Photo, but also to all other interested readers, because without you, we wouldn’t exist.
Now, please enjoy the new issue. I’m foregoing the individual artist profiles that are usually included here. They speak for themselves. The support from their own circles is enormous. Without the help of the photographers we feature here, Fine Art Photo would be in deep trouble.
I believe that FAP 40 will also meet your expectations as readers. It doesn’t get any more international than this. None of the artists support the current conflicts—it would be wonderful if global conflicts could be ended as easily as they can be in an art magazine.
If you have other ideas, please contact us and let us know how we can improve. Constructive criticism is always welcome. Now enjoy a journey—in the literal sense—around the world. We’ll travel with you from Japan and China through Ukraine and Russia to Afghanistan and the USA. And if you look closely, you’ll find many more places—each one more beautiful and interesting than the last. As different as people and faces may be, feelings and emotions are often similar. Photographs move and touch something within us . They reflect the search for peace and closeness, for a humanity free from conflict and war. Photography—and the passion for this medium—knows no borders and no political systems. It’s about the image and what it tells us.
Enjoy this journey, seek out the message in each image, or simply savor the atmosphere, the expression, and the beauty. And stay with us.
