Anastasia Mihaylova

Anastasia Mihaylova is a photographer and model. She got her first professional camera at the age of 14 in 2009. She graduated from the Academy of Photography in Warsaw.
For years, she professionally photographed in different genres such as weddings, and news reporting. She says, she »only found my calling in the nude genre«. »I believe that only through the nude is it possible to show who we are – and we are first and foremost children of nature.«
Her photos were and are shown at many international exhibitions and in publications.
Anastasia rarely works with new models. Most of her photographs are taken with people she knows well and with whom she gets along without words. Some photo series are created within ten minutes, others require an extensive amount of time. Sometimes she photographs spontaneously when she comes across inspiring places. Mostly, however, the shots are planned conceptually. Studio light is absolutely not for her, she said in conversation with fellow artist Thomas Berlin. She uses natural light, sometimes a table lamp also helps.
Anastasie photographs people without makeup, clothes or manicures. »I don‘t retouch the people in my pictures, because only without all the tinsel you can show how beautiful a person is. Just a person and a camera and nothing else.«
She says she helps people love themselves the way nature created them. »A good picture is one that conveys the author‘s idea without description, without words, and that evokes emotion«. Anastasia also works as a model, as impressive self-portraits will testify.
